I am writing from Canada, where I live. I read your eProperty Forum letters.
3 yrs ago, retiring after working 40 years, I had decided to settle back in Pakistan,
Your(not exactly your, it's just a figure of speach) MQM, Bhatta Khor Nazim Terrorist robbed me of my business in Karachi, incurring almost 1 crore rupees worht of loss and threatened to kill me.
Who so ever hears this story (which is one of the millions of such happenings every day), will not be very keen to buy a property in a country, where the Gov. can't even provide a protection to citizens, businesses, families from these Terrorists !
Obviously the prices are strongly controlled by demand. Lahore used to be a Paradise, in our times.
I went to F.C. College in fifties.
Then in early sixties I taught in Cadet College Petaro, It used be an excellent Evening in Paris atmosphere there.
But now Pollution, Insecurity, Poor Social Environment, Poor Health Care, Terrible state of Education and most of all explosive state of politics, are not helping.
The country is under seige or threat of being taken over by USA and/or Middle Eastern and Saudi Feudal Lords.
Who do you think would like to jump into the boiling plasma or the Lava, at this time?
Example or a Trailer of which, you have just seen, we have just come out of Hell in Swat (This used to be my ideal place for retirement !!!).
No wonder if the property price, in Pakistan, is going down !!
Unfortunately I do have some Farming property in outskirts of karachi, as well as in Punjab.
I am waiting, if in my lifetime, I see some turn around.
I love Pakistan and would like to spend my retirement in my WATAN.
I hope Pakistan finds another Khumaini, Kamal Ataturk or even a Hitler to fix our problems and not beg, borrow or steal to fill his pockets.
I hope I have not offended any body.
